Articulation Agreement between
Eastern Michigan University: Applied Technology
and
Monroe County Community College

Monroe County Community College and Eastern Michigan University have developed this articulation agreement designed to facilitate the educational mobility and transfer of students from Monroe County Community College to Eastern Michigan University.

Article I

Eastern Michigan University and Monroe County Community College enter into this agreement as cooperating, equal partners who shall maintain the integrity of their separate programs, while working to ensure a smooth curriculum transition for interested students.

Article II

Eastern Michigan University and Monroe County Community College agree that any student who has earned an Associate's degree in an approved technical program (see attached Curriculum Articulation Agreement - Area VI) may transfer the identified credits toward a Bachelor's of Science degree at Eastern Michigan University in Applied Technology. The bachelor's degree graduation requirements for students who follow this articulation agreement are as follows:

A. An Associate's degree in an approved technical program from Monroe County Community College including the courses noted in the appendix.

B . The completion of a program of study at Eastern Michigan University as noted in the appendix of this agreement which is coordinated with the program completed at Monroe County Community College.

C. A grade of 2.00 or better is required for courses transferring to EMU. To be admitted to the College of Technology (Industrial Technology Department) students must meet course and grade point average requirements at the time of application for admission.

D. Under this agreement, Monroe County Community College students will be required to take a minimum of 30 credits exclusive of wellness/fitness at EMU to secure conditionally a bachelor's degree in Applied Technology. Of the last 30 semester hours prior to the granting of the degree, at least 10 hours must be taken in courses offered by EMU. The requirement that students earn 60 hours exclusive of community college credit is waived under this agreement.

Article III

Students enrolled at Monroe County Community College will be given five years following their first date of enrollment at Monroe County Community College to matriculate at Eastern Michigan University under this agreement. A student must comply with the individual program requirements in effect at the time the specific program is selected.

Graduates under this agreement will receive equal consideration with others seeking admission or financial aid. It is understood that courses with less than a "C" grade (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) will not transfer for credit or placement.

Article IV

Eastern Michigan University and Monroe County Community College agree that a person who completed an Associate's degree in an approved technical program may graduate from Eastern Michigan University with a baccalaureate degree without duplicative study by following the articulated plan appended in this agreement.

Article V

Eastern Michigan University and Monroe County Community College agree to communicate program, curriculum, or policy changes on an annual basis which affect the agreed upon relationship. Both parties reserve the right to amend or revise by mutual consent and in writing this agreement or to chance curriculum, whenever feasible.

Monroe County Community College will designate an official(s) who will be responsible for all aspects of the articulation program at Monroe County Community College. Eastern Michigan University will designate individual(s) responsible for all aspects of this articulation agreement at Eastern Michigan University.

Eastern Michigan University and Monroe County Community College will review this agreement every three years and make adjustments or amendments as deemed appropriate to maintain the integrity of each institution as well as for the improvement of the transfer process and student articulation. If agreed upon, pending review, a renewal of the agreement may be signed.

Article VI

The two institutions further agree to communicate to respective publics of the established relationships.

Article VII

Either Eastern Michigan University or Monroe County Community College may terminate the agreement by notifying the other party in writing ninety days in advance. Should the agreement be terminated, any Monroe County Community College student who has designated and selected this articulation program prior to termination will be allowed to complete the program within a five year period of time.

This agreement is effective as of July 1, 2000.

Students must complete a cross-culturalanternational studies course in Area I - IV. HIST 315 meets this requirement. However, this causes the elimination of ECON 252 from the curriculum. It is intended that the second literature course be used to meet the cross-cultural requirement as soon as such a course is available at MCCC. ECON 252 will then be returned to the curriculum.
