MONROE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE & MADONNA UNIVERSITY
REVISED NURSING ARTICULATION AGREEMENT
October 2000

Monroe County Community College and Madonna University have developed a nursing program articulation agreement designed to facilitate educational mobility for graduates of Monroe County Community College's ADN program into and through Madonna University's BSN program in a educationally sound, expeditious, and cost-effective manner. The agreement allows Madonna University to recognize the high quality of nursing education provided by Monroe County Community College, and permits Monroe graduates to enter the nursing program at the second semester junior level, based on transfer credit and advanced placement procedures.

The agreement applies to all Monroe County Community College ADN graduates who have matriculated through the current Monroe County Community College nursing program, met the general studies requirements of the MACRAO agreement, and who meet admission requirements of Madonna University. The agreement plan identifies those nursing and support course credits (a total of 61 credits) which will be accepted as transfer credit by the College, and those courses (a total of 37 credits) which must be taken at Madonna University.

The agreement further provides for the administration of the NLN Nursing Prof ile II examinations (Book One, Book Two, and Book Three) once per year to the students while they are on the Monroe County Community College campus. Students will be required to pay for these examinations, and Madonna University will supervise the administration of the tests. Students who obtain a passing grade on the Nursing Profile II examinations, according to Madonna University standards, will obtain full credit for the equivalent College nursing courses without further testing, after completing 12 semester hours at Madonna University. In addition to the transfer credits mentioned above, 22 semester hours of nursing credit can be transcripted, based on the Profile II examinations for a one-time transcription fee of $40.00. An additional 9 credits can be earned through other exams bringing the total credits earned by exam to 31 semester hours.

The results of the Nursing Profile II examinations will be valid for five (5) years after the date of graduation for transcription to Madonna University. After that time  the graduate may be asked to repeat the tests in order to validate current nursing knowledge for progression in the BSN program.

If a student does not have a passing grade on any particular test, that test can be taken at Madonna University, using the regular experiential learning process already available, after admission to the nursing program.

The agreement specifies twelve (12) courses in nursing, required support, and general education to be taken at Madonna University in order to complete the BSN degree. Using Madonna University's spring/summer semester, the RN student could complete degree requirements in a minimum of 15 months (three semesters) or could expand this program over two full years, taking no more than two classes in any semester.

The list of Monroe County Community College direct transfer credits, Madonna University required courses, and credits validated by examination is on the. attached page. Students will graduate with the required 124 semester hours, if the plan is followed.

The agreement has been approved by the nursing faculties of both schools, and will be reviewed on a regular basis by the nursing administrators of each program to keep it current with the curricula and to allow for adaptation as new approaches to articulation emerge with the profession of nursing.

This agreement is a revision of the original 1992 Articulation Agreement and will apply to graduates who transfer to Madonna University in the 1996-97 Academic Year.

We are pleased to approve this articulation plan as described above, and as detailed on the course list, attached.
