Management and Organizational Development (MOD)

Management and Organizational Development provides expertise in human resource management and organizational development - two of the most important aspects of business and public administration. The program takes a systems approach to the problems, principles, and practices of management, incorporating conceptual and theoretical knowledge. It is also excellent preparation for graduate study in human resources and related management fields.

3) Fine Arts - one course chosen from the following categories:

a) Art (ART 151, 155)
b) Music (MUSIC 1.57, 268)

4) Humanities - one course chosen from the following categories:

a) Literature (ENGL 252, 253)
b) Modern Foreign Language (one year of college or above: SPAN 152, FREN152, GERMN 152)
c) Philosophy/Religion (PHIL 152,253)

5) Natural Science - 8 credits. Must have at Least one from a) and one from b):

a) LabScience(BIOL152,CHEM150,151,160, PHY 101, 151, PHYSC151,
       ESC 151)
b) Mathematics (MATH 150, 152, 157,162)

6) Social Science - Political Science (POLSC 151) plus two additional courses from two                   different disciplines:

a) Economics - (ECON 251 or 252)
b) History (HIST 151, 152, 154, 155)
c) Sociology (SOC 151, 251)
d) Psychology (PSYCH 151)

Notes

  • Maximum of 84 semester hours with a minimum of a "C" (2.0)or better may be transferred from MCCC.
  • A maximum of 40 technical/occupational hours may be applied toward the degree.
  • Prior Learning: Credit can be earned at Spring Arbor College by writing life-learning papers that demonstrate appropriate college level learning. Documented learning from professional training, seminars, and licenses can also be evaluated for college credit.
  • Students may apply a maximum of 30 semester hours of life-learning credits toward the degree.

Emphasizes the experiential nature of nontraditional education and adult development theory.

WRT 312 - Critical Analysis & Research Writing

Focuses on critical thinking, academic expository and analytical writing.

BUS 437 - Organizations & Environments

Concentrates on structure and design of organizations with primary emphasis on the organization as an open system.

BUS 452 - Group & Organizational Behavior

Studies group behavior and how groups function in an organization.

BUS 343 - Individual in the Organization

Centers on organizational behavior as it relates to individual motivation, productivity, and performance.

BUS 349 - Statistical Methods and Research

Focuses on identifying and measuring objectives, collecting data, working with significance levels, analyzing variance, and constructing questionnaires.

IDS 300 - Biblical Perspectives

Fosters knowledge and understanding of the literature and history of the Bible and the integration of faith, learning, and living.

BUS 432 - Human Resource Management & Supervision

Assists students in understanding and applying principles and practices related to human resources issues and functions.

BUS 402 - Principles of Leadership & Management

Examines leadership studies and theories of management in an historical context.

IDS 400 -Values: Personal and Social

Explores values through readings and analysis of the workplace.

BUS 460 - Research Project I – III

Combines research and practical implementation of theories, concepts, and problem solving in the context of the student's occupation or avocation.
