The Next Step A guide for transferring to Central Michigan University in Metro Detroit. The CMU tailored program Central Michigan University offers the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Applied Arts degree, both with a Major in Administration, and the Bachelor of Science with an Option in Community Development. All three undergraduate degrees require 124 semester-credit-hours, including at least 30 semester hours of study through Central Michigan University course work. CMU's programs prepare you to think strategically, to analyze information, to manage people and resources, and to function effectively in the public and private sectors. A CMU adviser can evaluate your educational background and help you select the degree program that best suits your needs. We also suggest that you contact your community college adviser at your earliest convenience to ensure an efficient transfer of courses. NOTES: Courses may change. It's recommended you consult with your academic adviser as you select courses, and to help you determine specific classes needed to complete the bachelor's degree. This program meets Michigan Association of College Registration and Admissions Offices (MACRAO) requirements. If students do not complete MACRAO, additional courses need to be taken. Students following this proposed format are eligible to receive an Associate of Science Degree from Monroe; and following this format provides for an effective transfer of credits to CMU. CMU will accept up to 64 credits from Monroe. Students who wish to transfer 4 credits in addition to those listed should consult with their CMU adviser. Coming to CMU to Complete your Degree: Once you finish your courses at Monroe County Community College, you can then proceed to one of Central Michigan University's seven Metro Detroit locations. The following degrees can be completed using your community college foundation: Bachelor of Applied Arts with a Major in Administration The BAA degree gives you a major in administration that provides a strong foundation in administrative knowledge and skills. This degree works well if you bring a significant amount of technical training and/or professional licensure to the program. You can transfer-in relevant course work to apply to the following minors: allied health, apparel merchandising, economics, family life and human sexuality, gerontology, industrial safety, industrial technology, interpersonal and public communication, nursing, nutrition, public administration, public affairs, or psychology. Concentrations are available in Industrial, Organization or Service Sector Administration. Bachelor of Science with a Major in Administration The Bachelor of Science with a Major in Administration gives you a solid educational foundation and broad preparation in general administrative skills. It prepares you for a career in marketing, customer services, accounting, production, human resources, information systems and other leadership areas in private industry. Concentrations are available in Industrial, Organization or Service Sector Administration. Bachelor of Science with an Option in Community Development The BS with an Option in Community Development allows you to focus on organization theory and leadership, theory and practice of community, interaction of community institutions and methods to implement the study and evaluation of community programs. It provides you with the knowledge needed for employment in local government, social service agencies, educational institutions and state, federal, law enforcement and municipal agencies. Concentrations are available in Community Services, Health Sciences, Public Administration or Recreation. Note: Economics and Accounting courses are not required for this degree.
