Workforce Development: Information for Job
Seekers
The Monroe County Community College Office of Workforce
Development is responsible for assisting job seekers (MCCC students, alumni,
and Monroe County residents) as they attempt to find employment. Whether
you are looking to change jobs, find a part-time job while in school,
or search for the first career-related position after graduation, the
Office of Workforce Development may be your best source for landing that
job. General services provided by the office include:
-
Posting
and displaying job openings from around the region. These jobs will
range from entry level, full-time professional position to the "typical"
part-time college student job. The available positions are posted
in the Student Services/Administration Building on main campus and
at the Whitman Center in Temperance. In addition, we now offer on-line
Available Job Listings.
-
Any
person may register for services from the Office by either visiting
the Office in Room 154 of the Student Services/Administration Building
or on-line by using the On-line
Candidate Registration Form. You must be registered with
the Office to inquire about jobs posted.
-
The
Office will maintain Credential Packets for job seekers. These packets
may include a copy of your detailed resume, letters of reference/recommendation,
references from faculty members, a copy of college transcripts, and
any other information which you feel might impress hiring managers
at potential employers. Not only will we maintain this packet of information,
but also we will mail or fax this information to employers for you
at your request.
-
We maintain
additional information about other employment opportunities, connection
to area employers and recruiters, and information about regional Job
Fairs. The College supports and participates in two job fairs;
The Michigan Collegiate Job Fair is held twice per year in the Metro
Detroit area, and The Collegiate Employ-Net Job Fair is held each
spring in Northwest Ohio.
-
Assistance
with career counseling, resume preparation, and other general career
development and job search skills is provided by the Career
Center in the MCCC Office of Admissions. We do have a basic
sample resume here for you to use
as a guide.
