In past years, the
spindle was created with a 1050 steel
which had very high stress
concentrations and was adept to fatigue
failure.
Now a 4130 Chrome molly is being used
and has proven to be more durable and
less prone to breakage.
Manifold Purpose and Design Intent
Purpose: With the aid
of computer fluid dynamics, we are able
to advance our understanding of our
current intake manifold so we can
improve next year's design.
Design Intent
The amount of
cylinders dictates the intake ports
needed for flow. All pipes must be equal
length because it regulates timing for
air intake.
