Criterion Four

The institution can continue to accompish its purposes and strengthen its educational effectiveness.

The Self-Study illlustrates that MCCC has a resource base that bodes well for its future. An assessment process is in place. Planning is an institution-wide effort and appropriately aligned with the budget process.

Institutional Planning

Strengths

  • The College has the structure, people, and finances to produce and support an effective Institutional Plan.
  • The planning process provides both structure and flexiblity, allowing the opportunity for campus-wide involvement.
  • There are adequate resources to support the financial requirements of the plan and reserves to address any immediate needs.

Challenges

  • The College must continually assess the effectiveness of the planning process by communicating planning themes to faculty and staff and by promoting faculty and staff participation in development, assessment, and support.
  • Because the planning process takes place over several months, it is sometimes a challenge to maintain focused involvement by employees.
  • Research data must be used to support decision making at MCCC.
