Institutional Plan 2005-2008

THE PLANNING PROCESS at Monroe County Community College is a campus-wide initiative that facilitates the greatest level of input by all constituencies. The 2005-2008 plan represents a collaborative effort by the faculty and staff to identify the key themes and objectives that will drive the institution over the next three years.

This printed plan outlines the major planning themes of the College and is subject to review and revision through the College’s institutional planning process each year. It assists the College in future decision making and helps to set new direction for the institution.

Questions about the Institutional Plan should be directed to the Office of the President at Monroe County Community College.

The Planning Process
President's Cabinet

Planning at the College progresses through all avenues of the governance structure. The planning process includes the Board, President, Vice Presidents, standing and ad hoc committees, as well as the areas and divisions. This multiplicity of avenues maximizes the opportunity for staff participation in the planning process.

The Institutional Plan itself supports the Mission Statement of the institution and provides an indication of future direction. Although the document is printed every three years, addenda may be included whenever appropriate.

The printed Institutional Plan contains items developed through a 1-3 year planning cycle. The goals and objectives developed through this process support the Mission Statement. This planning correlates with the budget development cycle for the College and follows a regular calendar.

The President may initiate specific planning whenever appropriate. Presidential action, as it relates to planning, may include interaction with the Board of Trustees, the President's Cabinet, or with any other group or individual affiliated with the topic. Planning which originates in the Office of the President is typically supported by research, reports, or the public environment as it relates to the institution. The outcome of this type of planning may be assigned to a specific department or office for implementation and should be referred to the IPCC for discussion purposes. Planning of this nature is unlimited in scope.
