LAL - Tutoring Services
Student tutors must have earned
an A or B in the course(s) they wish to tutor. Normally, they
must also receive a recommendation from the instructor as being
proficient in the course and capable of working with other students.
The recommendation is requested by the LAL staff using a Tutor
Recommendation Form.
Tutoring in the LAL has a variety of advantages:
- We can often arrange work times around your class schedule which means tutors earn extra money without the extra travel time or expense.
- We provide training that discusses tutoring strategies, study skills, and learning styles that you can apply in your own studies.
- When tutors do not have appointments, we expect them to study. What a great opportunity to review for tests, do you homework, or re-read a chapter!
- In addition, tutoring experience can be an important component of your resume. Often we hear from employers that tutoring became the deciding factor when choosing between two candidates.
If you are interested in becoming
a tutor, please contact the LAL to arrange an appointment. (See
LAL Homepage.)
The best way to really learn a subject is to explain it to
others.
