Gale Research publishes multi-volume reference sets that give in-depth biographical information on major writers and reprint literary criticism from both periodicals and books . Each volume of a set contains numerous author or title entries arranged alphabetically. While the biographical sets have an editor listed on the volume's title page, each literary criticism entry includes excerpts from a variety of scholarly sources. A complete citation follows every excerpt. This is the information to use for your bibliography or works cited list.

The online Literary Index ( www.galenet.com/servlet/LitIndex/) is the best way to  identify the series and volumes that cover a particular author or  work.  Notable authors are often covered in more than one volume, so always check the highest number volume in a set for the most up-to-date entries.  The MCCC Library holds many of the Gale Research titles but by no means all that are listed in the Literary Index.  The list below includes the titles available and their call numbers.  All of these titles can be found in the Reference section and are for in-house use only.  Please ask one of our Reference Librarians for assistance if you are not finding the information that you need.
