MCCC to Host Town Hall, Millage Victory Celebration

Public Invited to Both Events

MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College President Dr. Kojo A. Quartey will host town hall and millage victory celebration on Nov. 29.

The public is invited to both events.

The town hall will run from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the La-Z-Boy Center, Meyer Theater, and will be immediately followed by the victory celebration in the atrium of the La-Z-Boy Center.

Earlier this month, Monroe County voters approved an additional .85 mill property tax levy for Monroe County Community College for a period of 5 years. The money will be used for critical maintenance and renovation projects, protecting the community’s more than 50-year investment in the college’s buildings and infrastructure.  Included will be projects to update safety, accessibility, technology and the learning environment, as well as maintenance that has been deferred because of tight budgets.

It is estimated that the millage will generate an estimated $4.83 million in revenue in 2016.
