MCCC Robotics Team Heads to World Championships

MONROE, Mich. -- The Monroe County Community College robotics team has qualified for the upcoming VEX World Championship tournament in Louisville, Ky. April 26-28.

The team, named VEX Team 3547: Virus, earned that bid earlier this month when it won the Tournament Champion, Robot Skills Champion and Excellence Award in a winter qualifier tournament at MCCC, going undefeated against robots from Michigan State University, Purdue University and the University of Toledo, among others.

Michael Mohn, advisor to the MCCC Robotics Club, expressed his pride for the VEX-U students and their accomplishments.  “They have spent hours and hours designing and building their robots, but not only that, members of the MCCC Robotics Club have also been supporting the high school, middle school, and elementary school events with volunteer time both here at MCCC and at events hosted by other schools around southwestern Michigan,” Mohn said.

The MCCC Robotics Club’s mission is to promote STEM education to current and future MCCC students.  The club also strives to enrich lives in the local community through community service.
