CIVIL WAR COLLECTIBLES TO BE FEATURED
AT ANTIQUES IN APRIL SHOW

MONROE, Mich. – Civil War buffs will take a keen interest in Monroe County Community College’s eighth-annual Antiques in AprilShow and Sale, which takes place on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6.

This year the show and sale – which is fast becoming one of the premier shows in the Midwest – will feature authentic items from the Civil War, in addition to high-quality antiques and collectibles from the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Antiques in April will take place in the Gerald Welch Health Education Building on the Main Campus, which is located at 1555 South Raisinville Rd. in Monroe.  Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The Civil War collectibles that will be on display made their way from the battlefield in 1864-1865 to Monroe with a 143-year layover in northernmost Maine.  They include a soldier’s musket, cap, bullet mold, congratulatory certificate and reunion photo straight from Little Round Top at the Gettysburg battlefield, as well as a photo and a signed document by Col. Joshua Chamberlain.  These items will all be for sale.

Typically, about 60 vendors from across the U.S. exhibit at the show.

Parking is free and admission is $3.  Antiques in April is sponsored by MCCC and Sauer Furniture and Antiques.

For more information, contact Tom Ryder, coordinator of the show and sale, at (734) 384-4201.
