‘ANTIQUES AND AUTOS’ SHOW TO BE HELD SEPT. 23
21st Year for Auto Show; Craft Show Added this Year – Some
Openings Still Available for Antique and Craft Show Exhibitors
MONROE, Mich. – As part of its annual “Antiques and Autos” event, Monroe County Community College will be hosting its twenty-first Auto Show on Sunday, September 23, and, once again, car enthusiasts will have the opportunity to show off any make, model and year.
The Auto Show will be held on the Main Campus from noon until 4:30 p.m., and admission is free to the general public. The Antiques Show will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Gerald Welch Health Education Building, and admission is $3 at the door. New this year will be a Craft Show, which will be held in the Audrey M. Warrick Student Services/Administration Building from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is free to the general public.
There are still some openings available for Antiques Show and Craft Show exhibitors. Those interested in exhibiting should contact Tom Ryder, MCCC’s events and fitness activities coordinator, at (734) 384-4201.
For years, the Auto Show was limited to vintage vehicles, but last year the college expanded the event to showcase a wide spectrum of automobiles from many different eras, including the present. According to Ryder, the college is looking to attract muscle cars, low riders, and – as always – the classics.
Hay rides and children’s activities will also be available. Musical entertainment will be provided by The Fabulous Oldies but Goodies Band. There will also be free coffee and donuts for all participants and lunch available for purchase on campus. This will be an alcohol-free event, and the show will go on – rain or shine.
The judging for the auto show will be done by the MCCC family and will include a runner-up and third-place winner for each category. The categories are President’s Choice, Trustee’s Choice, Faculty Choice, Students’ Choice and The Foundation’s Choice.
Those who wish to showcase their vehicle in the Auto Show should contact Ryder at (734) 384-4201.
