COLLEGE GOAL SUNDAY TO HELP
STUDENTS SEEKING FINANCIAL AID

MONROE, Mich. – On February 10, Monroe County Community College will be one of 27 locations in Michigan hosting College Goal Sunday, a statewide event that will provide parents and students with free, one-on-one help in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

MCCC’s College Goal Sunday event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. in the La-Z-Boy Center on the college’s Main Campus at 1555 S. Raisinville  Rd. in Monroe.  Anyone who is interested in attending a post-secondary institution – a technical school, community college or university – and might need financial aid should attend.

College Goal Sunday is a collaborative effort among the Michigan Guaranty Agency, the Michigan Student Financial Aid Association and EduGuide: Partnership for Learning.

Students 23 years of age or younger should attend with their parent(s) or guardian(s) and bring their parents’ completed 2007 IRS 1040 tax return (if possible),W-2 Forms and other 2007 income and benefits information.

Students 24 years of age or older may attend alone and should bring their own completed 2007 IRS 1040 tax return (if possible), W-2 Form and other 2007 income and benefits information.

In addition, students and parents should bring Social Security numbers and driver’s licenses or alien registration cards.

To complete the FAFSA online at College Goal Sunday, students should request PIN numbers at www.pin.ed.gov.

Additional support for College Goal Sunday has been provided by the Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Association, the Lumina Foundation for Education and the National Association for Student Financial Aid Administrators.
