FIVE MCCC STUDENTS AWARDED THE DAIMLERCHRYSLER
CORPORATION FUND SCHOLARSHIP
MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College (MCCC) has awarded the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund Scholarship to Michael Bender, Lauren Moore, Jeremiah Werstein, Chad Whipple and Eric Whipple. The scholarship, in the amount of $3,000, can be used for tuition, fees, textbooks, supplies and course-related software.
Bender, a 2007 graduate of Jefferson High School and resident of Carleton, is majoring in mechanical engineering. He received academic honors throughout high school, including maintaining an “A” average throughout his senior year. In addition, he earned varsity letters for football and track and two junior varsity sports letters. He is the son of Bruce and Betsy Bender.
Moore, a 2007 Bedford High School graduate and resident of Temperance, is a business major at MCCC. She was a member of the National Honor Society and Girl Scouts of the United States of America. She was one of the top 10 students in her graduating class and received a leadership award in orchestra.
Werstein, the son of Tony and Julie Werstein of Maybee, was a homeschooled student and is majoring in digital media. He is the president of the MCCC Broadcasting Club, a member of the Monroe Community Players and an audio technician for the River of Life Community Church. He received the 2006 award for the Best Actor in a Musical Production by the Monroe Community Players for his portrayal of Mr. Bumble in Oliver!
Chad and Eric Whipple, both of Erie, are 2007 graduates of Mason High School and the sons of Randy and Trudy Whipple. Both are majoring in business/accounting.
