MCCC BREAKS ENROLLMENT RECORD

MONROE, Mich. –   More students have enrolled in credit courses at Monroe County Community College than ever before in the college’s 43-year history.

The enrollment headcount for this Fall Semester is 4,433 students, up 1.5 percent over last year’s record enrollment of 4,368.

Credit hours being taken this Fall Semester also reached an all-time high of 38,123, a 1.6 percent increase over last year’s record total of 37,527.

In addition to credit enrollment, MCCC enrolls about 4,000 students in non-credit courses each year through its Corporate and Community Services Division, which offers lifelong learning courses and business and industry training.  This will bring the total number of students served by MCCC this year to well over 8,000.

The credit enrollment figures were calculated to include all enrolled students at the end of business on MCCC’s official “count date” of Thursday, September 6.  This was when the 100-percent refund policy ended for any classes that are subsequently dropped.

Fall Semester classes began on August 30 and end on December 18.
