MCCC AWARDS INSTRUCTIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community has awarded Instructional Scholarships to 13 area 2008 high school graduates.
Instructional Scholarships – which cover full tuition, as well as lab and registration fees – encourage students to select a full-time course load in one of MCCC’s occupational or transfer programs. Scholarships awarded this year are designated for use in the 2008-09 academic year. However, each scholarship is renewed for a second year if a high standard of conduct and work has been demonstrated by the recipient.
This year’s recipients are: Phillip Borawski, Sarah Daniels, Ben Fleming, Nick Flint, Kelsi Larkins, Neil MacBay, Cody Miller, Alex Murd, Jennifer Niswender, Asia Rapai, Jesse Stewart, Joseph Stofka and Kenneth Turner.
- Borawski is a graduate of Saint Mary Catholic Central High School. He is a Carleton resident and plans to major in electronics.
- Daniels is a graduate of Jefferson High School. She is a Monroe resident planning to major in business.
- Fleming, a Monroe resident and SMCC graduate, plans to pursue a degree in broadcasting.
- Flint, a Jefferson High School graduate who resides in Newport, intends to major in automotive engineering.
- Larkins graduated from Jefferson High School and resides in Monroe. She intends to pursue studies in MCCC’s administrative professional program.
- MacBay is a Monroe High School graduate and resides in Monroe. He will pursue a degree in computer science.
- Miller, a Monroe resident who graduated from Monroe High School, intends to major in welding technology.
- Murd is a graduate of Bedford High School who plans to pursue studies in art. She resides in Temperance.
- Niswinder, a Monroe resident and graduate of Monroe High School, plans to pursue a degree in journalism.
- Rapai graduated from Ida High School. She is a resident of Monroe and intends to study drama.
- Stewart, a Jefferson High School graduate and resident of Newport, will major in construction management.
- Joseph Stofka is a graduate of St. Mary Catholic Central High School and is a resident of Erie. He will pursue a degree in manufacturing technology.
- Turner is a Dundee resident and graduate of Ida High School. He will major in mechanical design technology.
