MITCH RYDER AND THE DETROIT WHEELS
TO ZOOM INTO MCCC’S LA-Z-BOY CENTER
Copies of Ryder’s Biography Available for Purchase, Signing After April 12 Show
MONROE, Mich. – Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels will bring their Detroit style of classic rock ‘n’ roll to Monroe County Community College on Saturday, April 12.
The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the college’s La-Z-Boy Center, Meyer Theater, which is located at 1555 S. Raisinville Rd. in Monroe.
Recording such hits as “Devil With A Blue Dress On/Good Golly Miss Molly,” “Jenny Take A Ride,” “C.C. Rider” and “Little Latin Lupe Lu,” Ryder was instrumental in bridging the musical gap between Motown soul and the rock ‘n’ roll sound of the early 1960s.
Dubbed the “Detroit Voice of the 1960s” by Rolling Stone, Ryder was a major musical influence on Bruce Springsteen and John Mellencamp.
After the show, copies of Ryder’s biography, It Was All Right: Mitch Ryder’s Life in Music by James Mitchell, will be available for purchase. Ryder will be signing copies of the book.
Reserved seating is still available. Nearly 400 tickets have been sold, with just over 150 remaining. The cost is $15. VIP seating is sold out.
For more information or to purchase tickets, contact the MCCC Ticket Hotline at (734) 384-4272 or visit www.monroeccc.edu/theater/events.htm.
