WHITMAN CENTER TO HOST PRESENTATION
ON THE UNDERGROUND RAILROUND

MONROE, Mich. – In honor of Black History Month, Monroe County Community College’s Whitman Center will host guest speaker Janet Rozick, a historical programs manager for the Metropolitan Park District of the Toledo area, who will speak about the Underground Railroad.

The speech, which is free and open to the public, will take place on Feb. 27 from 3-4 p.m. in Room 4 of the Whitman Center, which is located at 7777 Lewis Ave. in Temperance.

The institution of slavery throughout the United States, struggles that escaping slaves experienced and Underground Railroad stops in Northwest Ohio will all be highlighted.

Rozick oversees the day to day operations of the Manor House, the Battle of Fallen Timbers and Oak Grove School.  She holds a master’s degree in American history and public history from Bowling Green State University and is completing her doctorate at the University of Toledo in American history/Progressive Era and public history/cultural resource management.
