MCCC BREAKS WINTER SEMESTER
CREDIT ENROLLMENT RECORD

Whitman Center Headcount Up 10 Percent

MONROE, Mich. – Winter Semester credit enrollment at Monroe County Community College has reached an all-time high.

The credit enrollment headcount for this Winter Semester is 4,562 students, up 5 percent over last year’s enrollment of 4,344.

Credit hours being taken this Winter Semester also reached an all-time high of 40,565.  The previous record of 37,032 was set last year.

At the college’s Whitman Center, located in Temperance, enrollment jumped nearly 10 percent.  Winter Semester headcount at the facility is 1,053, up 93 over last year.  The total number of credit hours being taken at the Whitman Center is 6,742, an increase of 1,130 over 2009.

In addition to credit enrollment, MCCC enrolls about 4,000 students in non-credit courses each year through its Corporate and Community Services Division, which offers lifelong learning courses and business and industry training.  This will bring the total number of students served by MCCC this year to more than 8,500.

Winter Semester classes began on January 15 and end on May 8.
