ATTENDANCE: Excessive absences may affect your grade negatively. Regardless of the reasons for an absence, IT IS THE STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS MISSED AND MAKE IT UP PROMPTLY.

CHEATING: The following items are considered forms of cheating and will result in disciplinary action if they occur during a test or quiz:
1) any discussion with someone other than the instructor;
2) copying from another students work;
3) the use of any materials other than those specified by the instructor.

GRADING: The student's grade will be determined by their performance on tests, quizzes and homework assignments given during the semester. The homework and quizzes will be weighted so as equal to one, 50-point test. The final letter grades will be based on the percentage of total points earned:

A = 100 - 85%
B = 84 - 75%
C = 74 - 60%
D = 59 - 50%
E = 49% and below

W and I
Students withdrawing from this course in the first twelve weeks will be assigned an automatic "W" regardless of the quality of their course work. After twelve weeks, a "W" will be assigned only if their course work is passing AT THE TIME OF THE WITHDRAWL. All other students will be assigned an "E".

A grade of "I" (incomplete) will be assigned to students whose term work is incomplete in a MINOR way. An "I" grade will be reserved for critical situations that arise that are beyond the control of the student, e.g. hospital illness, death in family, etc.
Make-ups will be allowed on all tests but not on quizzes. Missed quizzes will be assigned a score of zero. With regard to make-up tests, the student should be aware that they are usually more difficult and are graded more stringently. For these reasons, it is to the student's advantage to take the test when they are scheduled, if at all possible.

HOMEWORK: Homework is an important aspect of this class. It will be collected from time to time at the BEGINNING of the class period for which it is assigned and graded on the basis of a given number of points per assignment. LATE HOMEWORK WILL BE ASSIGNED A ZERO (0).

COUNSELING: One of many advantages of MCCC is the easy accessibility of your professors for additional instruction and/or counseling. If you need help, take advantage of this opportunity.
