bullet How long has Taste of Tech been held? The Industrial and Engineering Technology Division has been holding Taste of Tech since 1995.
 
bullet What is the purpose of Taste of Tech? Taste of Tech introduces students to Monroe County Community College's programs of study in the various technology fields.
 
bullet When is Taste of Tech held? Taste of Tech is held the first Thursday in November.  This year that date is November 8.  The event runs from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  It takes approximately two hours to go through the entire "meal".
 
bullet Why should I attend Taste of Tech?  
bulletBy attending Taste of Tech you have the chance to win a $500 scholarship.
bulletBy completing Taste of Tech you will receive a special gift. 
bulletEnjoy free pizza, dessert, and refreshments.
bulletTaste of Tech is a great experience allowing students to speak with instructors and counselors while getting a feel for the college campus. With this knowledge, students are better informed to make their educational decisions.

bulletI have an interest in transferring to another institution rather than studying a specific technology program.  Should I still attend Taste of Tech? Taste of Tech is an event rich in information about the technology fields.  Students who plan to transfer to other institutions may still require classes that will be introduced during Taste of Tech.
 
bullet Will counselors be available during the event? Representatives from Counseling, Learning Assistance Lab and Financial Aid will be available to answer your questions.
 
bulletWhat are the requirements needed to win the scholarship?

1.      The recipient of this $500 award must be a junior or senior in the 2007/2008 school year in the Monroe County or Downriver area, or a new adult student, and be a registered participant in the Taste of Tech program.  The award may be used for tuition, fees, books and required supplies at MCCC.

2.   The recipient will be required to apply for financial aid and to submit all required documentation for that application process by the required deadlines. If eligible for financial aid, that assistance will first be applied toward the student’s direct costs.

3.   The student must register for a minimum of six credit hours for consecutive fall and winter semesters (half-time) in an Industrial and Engineering Technology Division program until the scholarship balance is depleted.

4.   In the event that the winner is not able to use the scholarship, it will be transferred to a secondary designee by Monroe County Community College. This award has no cash value and may not be sold or redeemed in any other way. The required paperwork will be completed and kept on file in the Monroe County Community College Industrial and Engineering Technology Division Office and the Financial Aid Office.

5.   This award will not pay for the re-taking of classes or classes not required within the program of study.

6.   Tuition is payable under this award through the end of the 2011 spring/summer session or until the recipient has attempted the total number of credits required by his/her chosen program, or until the total value of the award is exhausted, whichever comes first.

7.   Monroe County Community College employees and their immediate family members (spouse and dependent children) are ineligible to receive this award.
 

bulletIs there any advantage to registering early? By registering early, you become eligible for the pre-registration drawings.  Those who pre-register will also have a scholarship registration card waiting for them upon entrance to the event.
