Below is the wording which appears on the articulation agreements for each course. These agreements are signed by the high school Tech Prep contact and the appropriate administrator at MCCC (typically the Tech Prep Coordinator).
Typical Process for Articulation via exam
Once a student has completed appropriate coursework at his/her high school he/she may request to complete the course competency (Tech Prep) test matching the course. This test will be developed by the MCCC faculty, maintained at the high school by the Tech Prep Contact/Counselor, and administered by the appropriate high school teacher. |
If the student passes the test with a grade of C or better, the student must complete a College Application for Admission and follow all "standard" procedures, and meet all requirements for admission to the College. These will be found in the College Catalog. |
The High School teacher and High School Guidance Counselor must verify with signatures that they recommend that the student receive articulated credit for the course, and that he/she has passed the Tech Prep test. |
Requested credit for Articulated coursework must be in a state approved secondary Career and Technical Education program. |
Articulated credit for Tech Prep courses will be indicated on a transcript/record maintained by the College which will include course number, title and credit hours. |
There are no fees, costs, or tuition charged to the student for Tech Prep articulated coursework. |
The following is the procedure developed for MDTC 160.
Once a student has completed one year of Mechanical Drafting and one year of CAD at his/her High School he/she may request to his/her High School Drafting/CAD teacher that he/she receive articulated credit for the course. |
If the student passes one year of Mechanical Drafting and one year of CAD at his/her High School with a grade of C or better, the student must complete a College Application for Admission and follow all "standard" procedures, and meet all requirements for admission to the College. These will be found in the College Catalog. |
The High School Drafting/CAD teacher will review the course syllabi and assignment sheet for the college course and provide documentation to the college indicating equivalencies. |
The High School teacher and High School Guidance Counselor must verify with signatures that they recommend that the student receive articulated credit for the course and that he/she has met Articulation Agreement Guidelines items 1 and 2. |
The record of articulation will be recorded on a document called Tech Prep Verification Form . This document will be on-file in the MCCC Admissions Office and upon enrollment in the College, the student must indicate that Tech Prep credit has been earned where-upon this form will become part of the student's permanent record. Once the student has satisfied the stipulations for awarding credit, as outlined in the Articulation Agreement, the credit will be applied to the student's transcript at MCCC. MCCC makes no guarantee that the articulated credit earned by a high school student will be accepted for transfer credit to any other college or university.
