La-Z-Boy Center, Meyer Theater Policies and General Information

Personal Responsibility Statement:  The La-Z-Boy Center prides itself on offering a diverse selection of arts and entertainment. Not all productions may appeal to – or be appropriate for – every person or for all ages. Therefore, patrons are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the shows we offer in order to make informed decisions prior to purchasing tickets.

Tickets:
Tickets may be purchased at the door, if available.  All sales are final.  No refunds or exchanges.  If you cannot make it to the show after you have already purchased tickets, we may be able to recommend charities or individuals that may be interested in your tickets.  Always check your tickets carefully whether ordering in person, by phone, mail or the Internet.  Please check the event, time and date. Call the Box Office at (734) 384-4242 as soon as possible if there is a discrepancy.

Lost Tickets:
Please call the Cashier’s Office at (734) 384-4272.

Gift Certificates:
Gift certificates are available through the Monroe County Community College Cashier’s Office.

Discounts:
Groups of 15 or more, seniors, and MCCC staff and students can receive a $2 per ticket discount off the full ticket price when tickets are purchased at the MCCC Cashier’s Office prior to the day of the event.  Discounts will not be given the day of the performance.  Tickets are based on availability, so make your plans early.

Will Call:
We recommend arriving at the La-Z-Boy Center one half hour before show time to pick up your tickets.  Because a large number of patrons utilize the will call service, arriving early will help to ensure that you are seated before the show begins.  Latecomers are seated at the discretion of the show’s management at appropriate pauses during the performance.

Theater Opening:
It is our policy to open the house a half hour before curtain time. Late rehearsals, sound/light checks or other problems may delay opening.

Seating:  The Meyer Theater is open for seating approximately one half hour prior to show time.  We ask that latecomers seat themselves only at appropriate intervals – as established by each performing group – so please plan to arrive on time.  This means that if you arrive late, you may be asked to wait in the lobby before you are seated.  For your safety, please remain seated after the performance until the house lights are brought up.

Accessibility:
The La-Z-Boy Center designates a fixed number of seats for patrons with disabilities. These seats are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. One week prior to an event (or if an event is sold-out), any seats reserved for people with disabilities that are not sold are released for general sale. Notification of a special need for these seats is critical at the time of ticket purchase. The La-Z-Boy Center will sell at least one companion seat per disabled customer. The sale of additional companion seats is subject to availability. It is the intent of The La-Z-Boy Center to meet or exceed the specific standard requirements for people with disabilities.

Assisted Listening Devices:  A state-of-the-art, infrared sound system is available for our patrons.  Hearing devices are available at the Ticket Office.

Cell Phones/Electronic Devices:  To avoid interruption and as a courtesy to the performers and other audience members, the use of recording devices, cellular phones (including texting) and voice pagers is prohibited from and in the theater.  Please be sure these devices are turned off prior to the start of the performance.

Cameras:
The camera policy will vary from show to show. While the La-Z-Boy Center does not have a policy prohibiting cameras, many artists do. When an artist requests a “no camera” policy, our staff is required to politely enforce this on behalf of the artist. When in doubt, call the Event Office at 734-384-4201 prior to the performance, or ask the house manager on the evening of the event.

Electronic Recording Equipment:  The use of video or sound recording devices is prohibited.
Smoking:  Smoking is prohibited in all College buildings and is restricted to only campus parking lots.  Smoking is subject to all applicable laws, including Federal and State “clean air” acts.  Beginning August 1, 2010, smoking will be prohibited on all College grounds.

Children:  Children should be able to sit quietly throughout the performance.  Everyone attending the event, regardless of age, must have a ticket unless otherwise stated.

Objectionable Persons:  Monroe County Community College reserves the right to eject patrons who are disruptive or disorderly.

Concessions:  Snacks and beverages are available at most performances.  However, coffee, beer, wine and pop must be consumed in the lobby or VIP area.

Catering For Large Groups:  In conjunction with one of our events, groups of 20 or more can take advantage of the beautiful spaces right inside the La-Z-Boy Center by holding a gathering in one of our reception areas.  From a simple reception to a complete dinner, let us help you provide an event that your group won’t soon forget.  Please call (734) 384-4201 for more information and availability.

Restrooms:
Restrooms are available immediately to your left as you enter the La-Z-Boy Center.

Parking:  Plenty of free parking is available in Lot #2 to the North side of the La-Z-Boy Center, and in Lot #7 at the Campus’ South entrance.  Disabled parking is available directly in front of the building.

Emergencies:  Emergencies should be reported immediately to the one of the La-Z-Boy Center staff, including ticket takers, ushers, the house manager, the technical director, or security personnel.
