I am a life-long resident of Monroe, graduating from Monroe Catholic
Central in 1968.
In 1972, I graduated with Honors in English from Eastern Michigan University.
My B.A. degree was in Education with a major in English and a minor
in History.
Also in 1972 I began teaching English at Jefferson High School.
For fifteen years I taught literature and composition to junior and
seniors.
In 1977, I received my M.A. in English. I also began teaching at MCCC
as an adjunct faculty member.
When a position in administration opened at JHS (Assistant Principal)
in 1987, I accepted the post. I served as Assistant Principal
for six years.
During this time, I began working on my doctorate from the University
of Toledo. In 1990, I received my Ph.D. in Renaissance Literature.
My dissertation dealt with Shakespeare's Macbeth.
In 1993 I became the Dean of Humanities/Social Sciences Division. In the Winter of 2005, I became a full-time faculty member.

I enjoy reading, particularly historical fiction. My favorite
settings are (surprise!) the Medieval and Renaissance periods.

I also am active in theater. I try to perform at least once
a year. I also like to perform at different theaters for different
theater companies.

I have three children of whom I am very proud. The two eldest
attended MCCC. Bill is an economist with State Farm
Insurance. Kelly is presently a social worker in Columbus,
Ohio. Scott is an English teacher at Monroe High School.
