The Application of Writing and Tutoring Theories in Authentic Writing Center Conferences

Theory to Practice Essays is a project designed to give Advanced Composition/Writing Fellows an opportunity to conduct primary research in the MCCC Writing Center. Each Advanced Composition student selects a topic in writing theory or tutoring theory, and designs a research project to explore the application of the theory to actual writing conferences. Research models include a variety of tutoring or instructional strategies, surveys, observations, and secondary resources. The essays published in Theory to Practice will be available for future Advanced Composition students as models and resources. Through this project, we hope to encourage a continuing dialogue at MCCC about authentic writing and tutoring practices.
