School Juniors and Seniors,
Pick a
number, 2 or 4. Which is
larger? For many students
it’s a ‘2’ when it is connected
to a 2-year degree vs. a 4-year
degree. Many of the good
jobs in the future will require
additional preparation beyond
high school, but there is often
a higher return on a 2-year
investment than the traditional
4-year college degree.
The math.
Your son or daughter can attend
college for 4 years along with
the costs of tuition, books,
living expenses, and being out
of the job market during that
period, then begin a career in
the $24,000 - $26,000 range.
Or, your high school student can
attend college for 2 years and
enter the job market at $28,000
- $34,000. How can that
be?

students pursue course work and
degrees in
Industrial
Technology
at Monroe County Community
College and graduates use their
preparation to take on today’s
opportunities in the technology
jobs with a future. It is
not unusual for them to pursue
additional course work and
training utilizing company
sponsored educational benefits.

part-time basis? If you or
your son or daughter are unsure
about what careers to consider
after high school, both of you
are invited to participate in a
“X-TECH”
that will be hosted by the
Industrial Technology Division
at MCCC on
Thursday,
October
23rd 2008, from 4:00 p.m. to
8:00 p.m.,
beginning in the West Technology
Building—look for the building
with the large “W.”
Come and
invest two hours to see what
it’s like to weld, work a CAD
station, build a floor plan in
construction management, work in
electronics, use sophisticated
diagnostic equipment in
automotive engineering, examine
industrial materials, operate a
piece of CNC machining
equipment, control a robot, and
learn about metrology and CMM’s
(Coordinate Measuring Machines).
Mom and Dad are welcome to
participate with
their son or daughter, too.
And, it is just possible that
you’ll have some fun at the same
time! There is no cost and
you don’t need to pre-register.
The event begins at 4:00 p.m.
and closes at 8:00 p.m.
To explore
all the offerings will take
about
two hours.
