Nursing Scholarships


You must be a current accepted or enrolled Nursing student to qualify for the following scholarships.  

Please read the qualifications and stipulations carefully.  When applying for a scholarship, you are agreeing to the terms outlined in the scholarships, and your verifying that you do meet the qualifying criteria.

STATE OF MICHIGAN NURSE SCHOLARSHIP FUND: DEADLINE JUNE 9
Eligibility: The recipient:
1. must reside in the State of Michigan.
2. must intend to practice within the State of Michigan in an under served area, with an under served population, or in a health professional shortage area as identified by the Board (all of Michigan qualifies).
3. cannot be in receipt of a full scholarship from another source.
This scholarship is awarded to each student on a one-time basis only.
Scholarship forms are available in the Health Sciences Division Office during regular business hours.

EUGENE W. BEACH SCHOLARSHIP: DEADLINE APRIL 1
Eligibility: The recipient:
1. must be a second year student.
2. must demonstrate above average academic and clinical performance in the program.
3. must consistently evidence a high degree of personal and professional integrity.
Stipend: $1,200

THE GUILD OF MERCY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL SCHOLARSHIP: DEADLINE JANUARY 11

One (1) $3,000 scholarship shall be awarded in January for tuition, fees, books. Apply for the Guild of Mercy Memorial Hospital Scholarship in November.
Eligibility:
1. Students applying must be accepted into the MCCC Nursing Program and maintain a 2.5 GPA.
2. Recipient must be a Monroe County resident and a citizen of the United States.
3. Financial need may be considered.
4. Volunteer experience in community service in a health care setting would be preferred.
5. Recipient must indicate dedication to the study of nursing and intention to complete the degree program.
6. Recipient must sign an agreement to return the full amount of the scholarship money to the Guild of Mercy Memorial Hospital System if recipient does not complete the nursing program.
7. Recipient must agree to be employed at Mercy Memorial Hospital System for one (1) year after graduation.
8. The scholarship will be awarded equally between three semesters: winter, fall, and winter.

MARY FRASER NURSING SCHOLARSHIP: DEADLINE APRIL 1
The Mary Fraser Nursing Scholarship will provide scholarship support for second year nursing students who reside in Monroe County, Michigan. The scholarship award covers tuition, fees, and books. It will be awarded annually and is non-renewable.
Eligibility: The recipient:
1. must be a second year nursing student;
2. must maintain 2.5 or higher grade point average;
3. must be a Monroe County resident;
4. must carry a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester;
5. must submit a one-page essay outlining his/her career goals;
6. will preferably be a parent.
Stipend: $1,000

RICHARD H. HICKS AND BERNICE HICKS NURSING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP FUND: DEADLINE APRIL 1

The scholarship will be awarded annually for tuition, fees, and books. It will be divided equally between the fall and winter semesters.
Eligibility: The recipient:
1. must be enrolled in the Registered Nursing Program;
2. must submit an essay outlining educational and career goals;
3. must demonstrate through essay and educational background their academic ability and work ethic;
4. will preferably be a veteran or have immediately family members who are veterans.
Stipend: $1,500

DR. GERALD L. HOWE SCHOLARSHIP: DEADLINE APRIL 1

Eligibility:  Full-time student enrolled in health related curriculum, Monroe County Resident, graduated in top 25 percent of high school class in college prep curriculum, academic promise.
Stipend:  $1,000 per year

KIMBERLY REAUME MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: DEADLINE JULY 12

Eligibility: Students applying must be enrolled in the Registered Nursing Program and a minimum of 6 credit hours, Monroe County, Michigan resident, minimum 2.5 GPA

SARAH AUGIE (PETREE) TEDRICK NURSING SCHOLARSHIP: DEADLINE April 1

Eligibility: Students applying must be a second-year nuring student enrolled in the Registered Nursing Program at MCCC with preference given to a young single parent; U.S. Citizen

SONYA KAYE BRETT NURSING SCHOLARSHIP: DEADLINE APRIL 1
The Sonya Kaye Brett Nursing Scholarship will provide scholarship support for second year nursing students who reside in Monroe County, Michigan.
Eligibility: The recipeint:
1. Must be enrolled as a second year stuetn in the Registered Nursing Program;
2. Must be a Monroe County resident and a US citizen;
3. Must carry a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester;
4. Scholarship will be divided between Fall and Winter semesters;
Stipend: $1,500
