A sales executive is responsible for helping build up a business by identifying new business prospects and selling products to them. They must maintain relationships with current clients and build and maintain relationships with new clients.

CAREER OUTLOOK

Through 2026, according to the state of Michigan Bureau of Labor Market Information, there will be 5,680 annual openings in Michigan (2.9 percent growth) for sales representatives (non-scientific/tech) at a wage range of $20-$43 per hour. There will be 485 annual openings in Southeast Michigan (7.9 percent growth) at a wage range of $21-$47 per hour.

In Michigan, the scientific and technical products sales rep category will experience 1,040 job openings, and increase of 15.2 percent ay a wage range of $27-$54 per hour.  In southeast Michigan, there will be 120 openings annually in this category, a growth rate of 8.8 percent, at a wage range of $27-$53.

In addition, there will be 1,410 annual openings in Michigan for insurance sales agents (9.9 percent growth) at a wage range of $17-$38 per hour and 155 annual openings in Southeast Michigan (11.5 percent growth) at wage range of $20-$36.

Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Administration

The associate of applied science degree in Business Management is designed to provide the student with a general background in business and an awareness of the organizational and environmental changes that continually challenge management.  This program prepares students for entry-level positions in sales management and other areas.

Transfer Opportunities: Bachelor’s Degree

Although this program is a two-year occupational program designed to prepare students for employment, many four-year colleges and universities will accept much of this curriculum in transfer. MCCC has transfer articulation agreements in business management or general business with a number of four-year institutions, such as:
