Each fall, the Applied Science and Engineering Technology Division holds a career exploration event – X-TECH – for Monroe County area high school career and technical education students. X-TECH allows these students to explore professional trades/occupational programs in the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through engagement in hands-on activities and classroom demonstrations.
A special section on STEM Careers hosted by “Women in Welding” is also part of the open house.
The aims to educate young people about career opportunities in technology areas such as mechanical design (CAD), machine tools/CNC, green construction, welding/nondestructive testing, electrical, robotics, nuclear power, automotive technology, and metrology/quality systems. Each program demonstrates high-demand and high-wage jobs, including opportunities for non-traditional careers.
