Monroe County Community College's Office of Workforce Development is offering fast-track, noncredit career training programs that are Michigan Achievement Scholarship-eligible.
Individuals who graduated from high school in 2023 or after may qualify to receive up to $4,000 -- $2,000 per year -- toward these eligible programs.
MCCC's eligible programs include Pharmacy Technician, Sterile Processing Technician, Dental Assisting, Clinical Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy Technician.

Pharmacy Technician Program
This comprehensive course will prepare learners to enter the pharmacy field and take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. Content includes pharmacy medical terminology, reading and interpreting prescriptions, and defining generic and brand name drugs and much, much more. This program will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and to pursue certification, including the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam. Tuition is $1,399.
Sterile Processing Technician Program
Sterile processing technicians perform and participate in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. Students who complete this comprehensive course with a passing grade of 70 or higher would be prepared to sit for the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association’s Certified Registered Central Service Technician exam. Tuition is $1,995.

Dental Assisting Program
This program prepares learners for entry-level positions as a chair-side dental assistant. It covers the history of dentistry, introduction to the dental office, the legal aspects of dentistry, introduction to oral anatomy, dental operatory, introduction to tooth structure (primary and permanent teeth), the oral cavity and other areas. The purpose of this program is to familiarize learners with all areas of administrative and clinical dental assisting, focusing on the responsibilities required to function as an assistant in a dental practice. Tuition is $1,499.
Clinical Medical Assistant Program
Instruction includes preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. Students will review important topics, including phlebotomy, pharmacology, the proper use and administration of medications, taking and documenting vital signs, cardiology (including proper lead placements), professional workplace behavior, ethics and the legal aspects of healthcare. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association Certified Clinical Medical Assistant national exam. Tuition is $2,799.
Phlebotomy Technician Certification Program with Clinical Externship
This 90-hour Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology; blood collection procedures; specimen hands-on practice; and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods.
NWCA National Certification: This program meets the necessary requirements to take the National Workforce Career Association (NWCA) Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Exam.
National Certification: Students who complete this program will have the opportunity to pursue the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Exam.
Clinical Externship: This program includes a 40-hour clinical externship opportunity. To be eligible for the clinical, students must successfully complete the 90-hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening.
Tuition is $1,995.

To qualify for the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship, a students must:
- Be a Michigan resident for at least the immediately preceding year
- Have graduated from high school in Michigan with a diploma or a certificate of completion or achieved a high school equivalency certificate in 2023 or after
- Have not yet earned an associate or bachelor’s degree
- Have not yet earned a degree, certificate or other credential with this scholarship

- Complete the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship application in the Michigan Student Scholar Gateway's student portal at https://missg.guarantorsolutions.com/StudentPortal.
- Enroll in an eligible career training program.
- Be sure to give the provider of the career training program proof of your high school diploma, certificate or completion or equivalent
