MCCC ATI TEAS
The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), is a standardized test designed specifically to assess a student's preparedness for entering the health science fields. Questions are designed to test the basic academic skills you will need to perform successfully in the areas of: Reading, Math, Science, and English and Language Usage.
The adjusted individual total score will be used as one component in the competitive health science program selection process. This score will range from 0% to 100%. Health Science programs use this score differently based on specific program selection criteria. See program applications for specific requirements.
Why do students need to take the TEAS exam?
The TEAS exam has been statistically proven to be a valid predictor of early health science program success. Your score on the TEAS is one measure of academic preparedness that is utilized in consideration of your acceptance into our health science programs.
What does the TEAS exam consist of?
The ATI TEAS exam is comprised of 170 total questions, with 209 minutes in allocated testing time. Question types include multiple choice, multiple select (select all that apply), fill in the blank, ordered response and hot spots.

Where can I take the exam?
The TEAS exam may be taken in person at a testing site or online. MCCC is not an in person testing site. Utilizing atitesting.com you can find in person testing site or sign up for the testing online via remote proctor.
How many times can I take the exam?
MCCC will accept your highest score from your first 3 attempts per version of exam.
How long are TEAS exams valid?
TEAS exam results are valid until a new version of the exam is released by ATI. Once a new version is announced, applicants may continue to use scores from the previous version for one additional application cycle. After that grace period, only scores from the current version will be accepted.
What is the difference in TEAS - Nursing and TEAS - Allied Health?
The TEAS exam itself is the same for all programs. However, students must choose a program designation of either Nursing or Allied Health during the registration process.
When do I need to take the TEAS exam?
Applicants seeking admission into the following programs must take the exam prior to the program deadline:
- Registered Nursing (RN) – ADN Program: Deadlines: 1st Monday in October; 1st Monday in June
- Practical Nursing (LPN) Certificate Program - Deadline: 1st Monday in June
- Radiography Program- Deadline: Last Monday in October
How should I prepare for the TEAS exam?
ATI Testing, the official provider of prep for the exam, recommends that you allow yourself at least six weeks to prepare for the exam.
There are a variety of prep resources available through the ATI website to help you study for the test – all aligned to the exam and packed with thousands of practice questions based on the content and format of the actual exam.
How do I create an ATI Testing account?
Please use the following instructions to register for the ATI Testing account:
- Go to the ATI Testing website at atitesting.com
- Select "I am preparing for or taking the TEAS"
- Click "Create an Account" near the top of the page
- Complete the Personal Information section
- Select an institution: Monroe County CC ADN (RN), Monroe County CC PN (LPN), or Monroe County CC AH (Radiography). If you are applying to multiple programs, you only need to send results to one of the above institutions.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the account creation process
How do I register for the TEAS exam?
Please use the following instructions to register for the ATI TEAS Exam in person testing:
- Go to: atitesting.com/teas/register
- Select the "Register Now" button
- Choose "In-Person" when prompted to choose how you wish to take the exam
- Select Program Type (Nursing or Allied Health) and search for a site nearest to you.
- Choose desired exam and click "Select"
- Complete the registration process following the on-screen instructions
- There is a Non-Refundable Fee of $120 for the exam (price subject to change)

How can I send my exam results to MCCC or another institution?
You will receive 1 free transcript as a part of your ATI TEAS exam registration. This transcript will automatically be sent to the institution/testing center where you took your exam or the institution you selected you are testing for. You cannot change where this transcript is being sent. Transcripts are electronically sent to the institution or testing center within 2 hours of the completion of your TEAS exam. To verify results are received by MCCC, please email Rachel Knabusch at rknabusch@monroeccc.edu.
MCCC is unable to accept exam transcripts directly from students or from another institution. Students who wish to have their official ATI TEAS exam transcript sent to MCCC from another institution or from MCCC to another institution must do so through ATI Testing at http://www.atitesting.com/ati_store/product.aspx?zpid=942. There is a $27.00 fee for the transcript.
