April 8 Solar Eclipse Viewing at MCCC

Observe the April 8 solar eclipse from the best vantage point on campus!

The eclipse will be 99.8% partial, meaning that at its maximum, 99.8% of the surface of the sun will be covered by the moon’s shadow.

Weather permitting, here is what to expect:

Gathering spot: Parking Lot #3, which the parking lot in the back of the Life Sciences (L) building.

What time? The eclipse will start at approximately 2 p.m. on April 8 and will end at approximately 4:30 p.m. The eclipse maximum will take place at 3:13 p.m. Stay for as little or as long as you can!

Eclipse glasses: Free! (while supplies last)

Seating: Seating is limited, so please be considerate to those who may need it. Feel free to bring your own seat (and maybe a snack) or your own optical aid with the proper filter.

Don’t miss it: The next total eclipse visible in the U.S. will be Aug. 23, 2044.
