Prism
Presented by Reese Johnson
Reese Johnson, a MCCC student, has started an LGBTQ+ support group, PRISM, for children, youth and teens within the area. With June being Pride month, Johnson wanted to do something that would really make an impact on those in her community. On June 1,2021, she started PRISM with the help of her mom, Emily Johnson. The name PRISM is to symbolize a rainbow’s reflection. Reese realized many who are part of the LGBTQ+ community in Monroe may not have a lot of support — whether that is from their friends, family, classmates, etc. She wanted to give them a place to go to receive that support.
At Prism, our mission is to provide proper support, education, and resources for all. Prism was founded in June of 2021 by teen, Reese Johnson. Prism is now a registered 501(C)3 organization dedicated to creating safe spaces throughout the state of Michigan.
