MCCC Awards the Helen M. And Eugene W. Beach Nursing/RT Scholarship

MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College has awarded the Helen M. and Eugene W. Beach Nursing/RT Scholarship to Amanda Beste, Tabitha Boron, Justin Heiserman, Lucas Nieto and Tara Uckele. The $1,920 scholarship is to be used for tuition and fees.

Beste, of Rockwood, is a graduate of Airport High School and is enrolled in the Respiratory Therapy Program at MCCC. She is the treasurer of the Respiratory Therapy Club at MCCC, a certified Basic Life Support instructor and a member of MSRC/AARC. She is married to Nicholas Beste.

Boron, of Carleton, is a 2009 graduate of St. Mary Catholic Central High School and is pursuing a career in the Respiratory Therapy Program at MCCC. She is the daughter of Angela Boron and Lloyd Boron.

Heiserman, of Monroe, is a 2011 graduate of Dundee High School. He is pursuing a career in the Respiratory Therapy Program at MCCC. As a respiratory therapy student, he has attended middle schools to demonstrate lung and heart dissections and talk about the hazards of tobacco.

Nieto, of Monroe, is a 2012 graduate of Monroe High School. He is pursuing a career in the Respiratory Therapy Program at MCCC. He has volunteered at MCCC’s Family Fun Night. He is the son of Kellie and Jay Janssens.

Uckele, of Luna Pier, is a 2003 graduate of Monroe Jefferson High School. She is pursuing a career in Nursing at MCCC. She is the daughter of Barbara Uckele, Mark Morgan and Pamela Inman.

To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be a Monroe County resident, a second year student enrolled in the registered nursing or respiratory therapy program, demonstrates above average clinical and performance and consistently evidence a high degree of personal and professional integrity.
