MCCC AWARDED $330,000 IN GRANTS FROM DTE ENERGY FOUNDATION

Monroe County Community College has been awarded two grants totaling $330,000 from the DTE Energy Foundation to improve access to educational and employment opportunities in Monroe County, with special focus on underserved populations, MCCC President Dr. Kojo A. Quartey and DTE Energy Foundation manager Dana Williams announced at news conference tonight. The first grant of $300,000 will be used by the college over a three-year period to recruit and retain approximately 1,500 students studying in the disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) through a new STEM Scholars Program. DUELING PIANOS INTERNATIONAL TO PERFORM AT MCCC'S LA-Z-BOY CENTER

MCCC'S SINGLE LARGEST SCHOLARSHIP DONATION BENEFITS FIRST GROUP OF TWELVE STUDENTS

For twelve very fortunate Monroe County Community College students the cost of a college education was significantly reduced this year because of the generosity of a woman who was in their position nearly 50 years ago. Monroe County Community College has been awarded the Native American Heritage Fund’s largest grant of 2019 – $199,234 – to create curriculum and a set of immersion experiences for K-12 students that are focused on how to research stories from the Native American perspective, MCCC President Dr. Kojo A.
