MCCC Awards the Sonya Kay Brett Memorial Endowed Nursing Scholarship

MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College has awarded the Sonya Kay Brett Memorial Endowed Nursing Scholarship to Michelle Adams, Amberlee Szymchack and Jamie Terrasi. The $1,250 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.

Adams, of Monroe, graduated in 2000 from Wood Haven High School and is currently studying Nursing at MCCC. She is a member of the Student Nurses Association and Medical Reserve Corps and volunteers for the Children with Hair Loss. She is daughter of Kristine Hagar and Jerry Adams.

Szymchack, of Maybee, graduated in 2004 from Dundee High School and is currently enrolled in the Nursing Program at MCCC. She was a volunteer for her daughter’s girls scout troop. She is married with three children.

Terrasi, of Erie, graduated in 2007 from Monroe High School. She is currently enrolled in the Nursing Program at MCCC. She is a member of Student Nurse Association at MCCC and recently joined the Medical Reserve Corps of Monroe County. She is the daughter of John and Josie Terrasi.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a second year student in the Registered Nurse Program, a U.S. citizen and a Monroe County resident. Students must maintain a three- quarter-time enrollment which is defined as nine (9) credit hours.
