MCCC Awards the Ray L. Kessler Scholarship

MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College has awarded the Ray L. Kessler Scholarship to Keith Lingar, of Newport. The Kessler Scholarship was established at The Foundation at MCCC by Jefferson High School alumni to honor former longtime principal Ray Kessler. The scholarship will be available to the recipient for up to three years, providing funds are available. The $10,000 scholarship is one of the largest single private donor scholarships ever awarded by The Foundation at MCCC. The scholarship is to be used for tuition, books, and fees.

Lingar, a Jefferson High School graduate, plans to study Criminal Justice while attending MCCC. While attending Jefferson High School, he was involved in football, wrestling and track. He has volunteered at South Rockwood United Methodist Church and Habitat for Humanity. He is the son of Debby Lingar.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a United States citizen, attended both their junior and senior year, and a graduate of, Jefferson High School, Monroe, Michigan, and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
