MCCC International Studies Club to Host Panel Discussion on Religion in Honor of the International Day for Tolerance

MONROE, Mich. – In honor of the International Day for Tolerance, Monroe County Community College’s International Studies Club will host a panel discussion on religion on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Meyer Theater in the La-Z-Boy Center.

The panel discussion is free and open to the public. The La-Z-Boy Center (Bldg. Z) is located on the Main Campus, 1555 S. Raisinville Rd., Monroe. 

Dr. Joanna Sabo, MCCC professor of political science, will serve as the moderator and will open the program with a discussion of the First Amendment. Sabo said the goal of the panel discussion is to bring awareness about the tenets of different faiths, and to see how different faiths view and practice God. She said that respect and understanding of differences will be encouraged.

Confirmed panel participants include the following faith representatives: Catholic, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Greek Orthodox, Islam, Hindu, and Siddah Yoga. Additional representatives have been invited and may be added to the panel.
