MCCC to Host Pesticide Review Class November 8

MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College is partnering with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Agriculture Advisory Council of Southeast Michigan to present a Pesticide Review class on Tuesday, Nov. 8. 

The class will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 259 of the La-Z-Boy Center on MCCC’s Main Campus at 1555 S. Raisinville Rd. The cost for the class is $10, which includes coffee and doughnuts.

Participants will receive four pesticide re-certification credits in one of the following categories:  Private, Commercial Core or Commercial categories 1A, 1B, 3A, 3B, or 6.  The class will be a review of parts of the National Pesticide Applicator Certification Core Study Manual.  The Monroe County Conservation District’s Michigan Agricultural Environmental Assurance Program technicians will present an overview of the MAEAP program structure and give an update on programs for farms to become environmentally verified.

The audience for this class includes farmers and commercial pesticide applicators.  Topics covered will include:

  • Core Manual Chapter 1: Pest Management
  • Demonstration of Integrated Pest Management Tools and Insect Trapping
  • Core Manual Chapter 2: Federal and State Pesticide Laws and Regulations
  • Michigan Agricultural Environmental Assurance Program Technician Update:  Programs and Verification to be a MAEAP-verified Farm
  • Core Manual Chapter 3: Pesticide Labeling
  • Practice Questions and Review
