The Foundation at MCCC Awards the Richard H. Hicks & Bernice Hicks Nursing Education Scholarship

MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Richard H. Hicks and Bernice Hicks Nursing Education Scholarships to Allison Kind, Victoria Laurell and Nancy Uselton. The $1,850 scholarships are to be used for tuition, books, and fees.

Kind, of Southgate, is a 2009 graduate of Southgate Anderson High School and is studying Nursing at MCCC. She volunteered at the Monroe County Health Fair and is a member of the Student Nurses Association. She is the daughter of Theresa and Bob Crilley, wife of Scott Kind and mother to Xander and Archer Kind.

Laurell, of Monroe, a Nursing major, is a 2017 graduate of Monroe County Middle College. She graduated Cum Laude at MCCC and Summa Cum Laude at Monroe County Middle College. She is the daughter of Rodney and Jodie Welliver and wife of Jake Laurell.

Uselton, of Grosse Ile, is a 1987 graduate of Oak Ridge High School pursing a nursing degree at MCCC. She is a member of the Student Nurses Association. She is the wife of Neil Uselton and mother of Adrian, Ian, Gavin and Colin Uselton.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be enrolled in the Registered Nursing Program at MCCC. Preference will be given to students who are veterans or those who have immediate family members who are veterans.
