CONSUMERS ENERGY FOUNDATION GRANT SUPPORTS ARTS PROGRAMMING AT MONROE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has received a $5,000 grant from the Consumers Energy Foundation supporting the college’s Cultural Enrichment Series.

“Consumers Energy is dedicated to ensuring Michigan’s communities are thriving and have world-class cultural resources. We are pleased to support MCCC’s efforts to provide high-quality cultural arts programming to Monroe County and Southeast Michigan residents,” said Carolyn Bloodworth, Secretary/Treasurer of the Consumers Energy Foundation. “We are proud our Consumers Energy Foundation grant will enable MCCC to continue to bring art, music and live performances to the area, strengthening our commitment to our communities.”

The grant will be used to add greater diversity in the types of programming the college is able to offer and keep ticket prices affordable or free, expanding access to artistic and cultural opportunities to even more area residents.

“It is only through the support of generous corporate citizens like the Consumers Energy Foundation that we are able to continue to live up to our mission of enhancing the educational and cultural experiences of our students and community,” said Dr. Joshua W. Myers, executive director of The Foundation at MCCC. “Arts and culture are essential to vibrant, successful communities. MCCC is proud to be the home of Monroe’s premier performing arts venue—the Meyer Theater in the La-Z-Boy Center—and a central hub for many cultural activities in the region. The Cultural Enrichment series provides high quality and affordable cultural enrichment and entertainment opportunities to our community that ordinarily are only available in larger, more populated and affluent communities.”
