MCCC AWARDS PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Monroe County Community College has awarded Presidential Scholarships at MCCC to Cecily Bressler, Olivya Brodie, Delaney Burkett, Bryan Costello, Bobbi Foster, Jonathon Helmstadter, Abigail Hosler, Brook Kuehnlein, Evie Larrow and Jaylynn Struth.

The scholarships are to be used for tuition and fees.

Bressler of Dundee is a 2020 graduate of Dundee High School. She will be studying culinary arts while attending MCCC.  She is a member of the National Honor Society, robotics team, where she has received several awards, DHS band, and is involved at her church as an alter server and youth group.  She is the daughter of Mark and Deanna Bressler.

Brodie of Monroe is a 2020 Monroe Virtual On-Line School graduate. She will be studying business and music while attending MCCC. She was a member of the varsity volleyball for three years and received the All-Region and All-County Awards.  Brodie recently produced  a song promoting awareness of human trafficking.  She is the daughter of Erika Brodie and Leland Mayse.

Burkett of Ida is a 2020 graduate of Ida High School. She will be studying nursing  while attending MCCC.  She is a member of Ida Community Key Club, National Honor Society, varsity basketball and track and field teams, East Ida Lutheran Church and Monroe County 4H.  She is the daughter of Chad and Karen Burkett.

Costello of Monroe is a 2020 graduate of Monroe High School. He will be studying welding technology while attending MCCC. He is treasurer for the Class of 2020 and is a member of the National Honor Society, Pep Club and Career and Technical Education Ambassador.  Costello is the son of Kevin and Susan Costello.

Foster of Newport is a 2020 Monroe Jefferson High School graduate. She is studying early childhood education while attending MCCC.  She is a member of SPLT (Student Prevention Leadership Team), National Society and has participated in the Jefferson Upward Bound program.  She is the daughter of Erin ad Shane Foster.

Helmstadter of Dundee is a 2020 graduate of Dundee High School. He will be studying agricultural operations while attending MCCC. He is an active member of the Future Farmers of America from which he has received several awards and earned several Lenawee County Athletic Association Athlete Awards and played on the varsity football team.  He is the son of Mike and Sam Helmstadter. 

Hosler of Dundee is a 2020 graduate of Dundee High School. She will be studying accounting while attending MCCC.  She is a member of the National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America, 4-H and DHS varsity volleyball and basketball teams.  She has received the LCAA Scholar Athlete Award for all four years of high school.  Hosler is the daughter of Josh and Sarah Hosler.

Kuehnlein of Monroe is a 2020 graduate of Saint Mary Catholic Central High School.  She plans to study criminal justice while attending MCCC.  She is vice-president of the National Honor Society, a member of the Geek Squad, SPLT, founder of SMCC bowling team, student leader in Monroe’s International Day of Peace, 4-H, Junior Livestock Association and French Honors Society.  Kuehnlein earned varsity letters in softball, golf and bowling while attending SMCC.  She is the daughter of Eric and Marie Kuehnlein.   

Larrow of Erie is a 2020 Mason Senior High School graduate. She is studying nursing while attending MCCC.  She is a member of Unified Champions, SPLT, I Matter and yearbook.    Larrow is the daughter of Jenn Larrow and Corey Larrow.

Struth of Monroe is a 2020 graduate of Monroe High School. She will be studying business while attending MCCC. She is chief editor of her school newspaper, treasurer of the National Honor Society, treasurer of the Interact Club, is a member of Business Professionals of America, Pep Club and is a Trojan mentor.  Struth is the daughter of Nicole Leach and Jason Struth.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a Monroe County, Michigan, resident, must have a GPA 3.5 or better, exhibited leadership qualities, demonstrated participation in school and/or community affairs and must be enrolled for 12 or more credit hours per semester at MCCC.
