MCCC TO HOST WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH EVENTS

Monroe County Community College is hosting numerous events in honor of Women’s History Month. All events are free and open to the public and will be held on the college's Main Campus, 1555 South Raisinville Road in Monroe.

Events include:

  • Thursday, March 5. Tai Chi for Women. Becky Rahe, Master Trainer Tai Chi for Health Institute, will lead the demonstration and lead the class from 9 - 10 a.m. in the La-Z-Boy Center Atrium.
  • Tuesday, March 17. Remarkable Native American Women Not Found in History Books, will be presented by Barbara Mauter, MCCC Learning Assistance Lab tutor,  in the Warrick Student Services & Administration Building, Room A-173b from 10-10:45 a.m.
  • Thursday, March 19. “Women Who Rise: Our Lineage of Leadership,”  is a presentation by author and MCCC Sociology Adjunct Faculty Robin West Smith at 10 a.m. in Room A-173b of the Warrick Student Services & Administration Building.
  • Thursday, March 26.  "A Conversation with Author Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha" whose book "What the Eyes Don't See: A Story of Crisis, Resistance, and Hope in an American City," tells the story of the team of researchers, parents, friends and community leaders that discovered the children of Flint were being exposed to lead in their tap water – and then exposed that truth to the world .This event is being held in conjunction with the Monroe One Book, One Community initiative and will be held in the Meyer Theater of the La-Z-Boy Center at 7 p.m.
  • Monday, March 30. “Snack and Learn: What Every Woman Should Know,” will be presented by Theresa Edmunds, CHC, founder of Natural Concepts Health Counseling from noon - 1 p.m. in the Warrick Student Services & Administration Building, Room A-173b.

Additionally, a Women’s History Month poster display in the Warrick Student Services and Administration Building Lobby can be viewed during regular business hours.
