With a few pen strokes, Monroe County Community College and The University of Toledo made it easier for students to begin their studies in business at MCCC and finish them at UToledo.
Officials from each institution finalized an articulation agreement this week that provides a pathway to a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UToledo starting at MCCC.
The agreement establishes guidelines for the transfer of community college credit upon completion of MCCC’s Associate Degree in Business Management program into UToledo’s Bachelor of Business Administration program with a selected area of specialization.
“MCCC and UToledo believe that students who choose to begin their studies at a community college and plan to transfer to a university to earn a bachelor’s degree should be able to do so smoothly,” said MCCC President Dr. Kojo A. Quartey.
“These students should be able to maximize the amount of credit that transfers without duplication of coursework. That’s what this agreement is designed to ensure.”
The agreement also allows for MCCC students to take up to 12 credits equivalent course work at UToledo and transfer it back to MCCC toward the requirements for the associate degree.
MCCC students must meet the transfer student admission requirements to be admitted to UToledo’s Bachelor of Business Administration program. The maximum number of transfer credits will be 73.
According to UToledo College of Business and Innovation requirements, students must complete their junior and senior academic years at UToledo, and a minimum of 120 credits is required to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
“We are very happy to establish this articulation agreement,” said Dr. Anne Balazs, Dean of the College of Business and Innovation at The University of Toledo. “It is a natural extension of our ongoing cooperation and it strengthens the relationship between the two schools. Most importantly, it provides a clear pathway to degree completion and helps students move seamlessly from a two-year degree to a bachelor's degree. We are excited to extend this bridge to Monroe County Community College students.”
