INFORMATION SESSIONS FOR MCCC'S NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED RESPIRATORY THERAPY PROGRAM SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 7, AT 3 PM & 6 PM

The Respiratory Therapy Program at Monroe County Community College will host a one-hour long RT career information session for the public on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at 3 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. on Zoom. To attend a session, log in to https://zoom.us/j/8199188087  or call in to (312) 626-6799 or (646) 876-9923. No password or preregistration is necessary.

During the session, participants can learn about respiratory therapy careers, including job duties, employment outlook and classes needed to enter the program. Respiratory Therapy Program faculty will be available to answer questions. Prospective students can also earn a point toward admission into the program by attending. The application deadline for the Fall 2022 semester is June 30, 2022.

“These information sessions are a great opportunity for prospective students to attend, especially if they are interested in starting classes at MCCC this summer or for admission into the Fall 2021 RT program,” said Dr. Ijaz Ahmed, respiratory therapy program director.

“The RT program operates as a cohort group beginning each Fall semester. Students interested in beginning the RT program in Fall 2022 must complete their application prior to June 30, 2022.”  More information about the application process can be found at https://www.monroeccc.edu/programs/respiratory-therapy. "There are three pre-admission courses students also need to take including Math 151 Intermediate Algebra, Biology 151 Biological Sciences I and Biology 257 Anatomy and Physiology I. Students can get a head start on their studies for the program by taking these courses in the Winter 2022 or the Summer 2022 semester."

“The MCCC RT program is recognized as one of the best in the state of Michigan and the United States. We are a recipient of the Distinguished Credentialing Success Award from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care and 100% of our students have passed the CRT credential exam and 98% have passed the RRT exam in the past three years,” said Ahmed. “We currently have articulation agreements with University of Michigan-Flint, Eastern Michigan University and University of Toledo that make transferring to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree quite easy. And we plan to secure even more articulation agreements in the near future.”

In addition to the the information sessions on October 7, there will be two more opportunities to learn more about the program on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
