MCCC HOSTING FREE, DAILY COVID-19 TESTING; FREE VACCINE CLINIC SET FOR FEB. 9

MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College is hosting free, drive-in COVID -19 testing daily and will host a free COVID-19 vaccine clinic Feb. 9.

MCCC is partnering with the Monroe County Health Department and LynxDx and Monroe County Community College to provide the drive-in, COVID-19 testing, which is available in the La-Z-Boy Center parking lot of the Main Campus, 1555 S. Raisinville Rd., Monroe. Hours of operation are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. Pre-registration online is required at https://lynxdx.health/register.

The test used at this community testing site is a self-administered saliva test (qPCR). The client collects the specimen, bags it and places in a collection container. Saliva tests allow patients to spit into a tube rather than get their nose or throat swabbed. Do not eat or drink 30 minutes prior to self-collection of your saliva sample. You will need to have insurance information and a driver's license or state-issued ID card at the time of registration. Uninsured individuals will not be turned away. Federal funding has been allocated to cover these tests. If you are uninsured, testing staff will ask for your Social Security number to verify that you do not have insurance. Please reach out to LynxDx if you are uninsured and receive a bill. Families can use one email account for the entire family. Testing is available to everyone of all ages. Children under the age of 5 may have difficulty with the self-administered saliva test. LynxDx will have nasal PCR tests available as an alternative. Once tested, you will be notified of results within 1-2 days. Results may take up to 3 days.

The free COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Wednesday, Feb. 9 will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Warrick Student Services /Administration Building on the Main Campus, Room 173a. Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines as well as pediatric vaccines will be available. Walk-ins are welcome. Register at www.monroeccc.edu/events/covid-19-vaccine-clinic-0.
