MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College, in partnership with Monroe News and the Monroe NAACP Branch 3164, will host two forums for area candidates seeking office in the upcoming November election.

The forums will take place on consecutive nights -- October 19 and 20 -- each at 6 the Meyer Theater in the La-Z-Boy Center on the college's Main Campus, 1555 S. Raisinville Road, Monroe, MI 48166.

"This is a non-partisan, equal opportunity for candidates to present their thoughts and views on a variety of topics," said MCCC President Dr. Kojo A Quartey.

At the forum, candidates will be able to share information about their platforms and thoughts on a variety of topics, as well as interact with constituents, Quartey said. General topics and questions will be provided to candidates in advance.

The forums are not debates, he said. Each candidate will have two minutes for an introduction and two minutes to answer each question.

Each forum should last about one hour.
