15th ANNUAL STRIKES, SPARES & SCHOLARSHIPS EVENT RETURNS ON MAY 12 TO MONROE SPORTS CENTER

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College is seeking sponsors and teams to participate in the Strikes, Spares and Scholarships event, which was canceled in 2020 due to Covid-19 and has been on hiatus until this spring. "After three years, The Foundation's Board of Directors and the faculty and staff of MCCC are excited to gather again with students and the community for a night of fun that benefits such a great cause -- scholarships for students to attend MCCC," said Dr. Joshua W. Myers, executive director of The Foundation at MCCC.

The event will be held at Monroe Sports Center, 15425 S. Dixie Hwy., on Friday, May 12, 2023, beginning with check-in at 6 p.m. and bowling play at 6:30 p.m. Teams of four bowlers can register for $100 (individual bowlers are welcome, too, for $25, and will be paired up with others to form teams for the evening.) The registration fee includes three games of 9-Pin, No-Tap bowling for the evening, shoe rental, pizza and dessert. Throughout the evening there will be raffles for a wide variety of donated prizes and baskets.

In addition to registering teams and individuals for bowling, The Foundation at MCCC has a number of individual and organization sponsorship opportunities including Lane Sponsorships at $75; Team Sponsorships at $125 (includes team play for four bowlers and Lane Sponsorship); Corporate Sponsorship (includes two four-person teams and two Lane Sponsorships) for $400 and VIP Corporate Sponsorships at $600 (includes two-four person teams, corporate name on all lanes and recognition in all pre- and post-event publicity materials.)

"We are also happy to accept donations of items for our baskets that we raffle off throughout the evening," said Janel Boss, administrative assistant to the vice president of finance and administration, and organizer of the Strikes, Spares & Scholarships event.

Registration deadline for participation is May 5. Registration can be made online at www.monoreccc.edu/events using the registration form on the 'STRIKES, SPARES & SCHOLARSHIPS' event listing link. For more information about sponsorships or donating to the event, call 734-384-4315.

All of the proceeds from Strikes, Spare & Scholarships will benefit The Foundation at MCCC's scholarship program. Each year, more than 200 scholarships are awarded ranging from $250 to full tuition for two years of study at MCCC. In addition to nearly $400,000 in traditional scholarships for tuition, fees and books, The Foundation at MCCC has in recent years begun awarding emergency scholarships in situations where students are in need of equipment such as laptops or wifi access, or assistance with transportation or short-term child care needs, for example, to continue with their studies and achieve their higher education goals.

"Events like Strikes, Spares & Scholarships are a win-win for our students, of course, but also for our donors who have the opportunity to come out and enjoy an evening of fun while knowing their dollars are going to such a worthy cause," added Myers.
